About
Statement
I am pursuing a practice that primarily focuses on environmental equity and eco feminism. My work takes the form of Installation and social practice. Through my work I attempt to examine the relationship between my body and aspects of my femininity as they relate to land and resources. I am hoping to examine the interconnections and contradictions between the feminine/earth mother/fertile/chaotic/wild as well as the masculine/instrumentalized/constructed/controlled/civilized concepts of reality. I combine tropes from mythology and co-opted ritual practices in work that involves the viewer in a way that is sometimes physical and often engages multiple senses. My work is emotionally charged however I attempt to use whimsy and romanticism in order to provoke feelings of tranquility and nostalgia that invite the viewer to share in the experience. More recently, I have been attempting to introduce an aspect of storytelling and narrative in my practice through the use of archival strategies.
